Ranch Days Harvest Celebration
September's Ranch Days showcased the rich history of the Muir Strentzel fruit ranch, with 800 visitors enjoying a look at life here in the 1880's. For many visitors, the highlight was a ride through the orchards and vineyard in a Holmes Carriage Company Amish 9-Passenger Carriage drawn by a team of horses. The carriage was one of eight pieces of antique farm equipment on display throughout the park from the collection of Martinez resident Raymond Leal.
Volunteer performers provided entertainment and demonstrations throughout the day in the house and outdoors. Costumed raffle ticket sellers strolled the grounds. The picnic area was full as folks enjoyed a barbeque and presentations on the main stage. Good times and an appreciation of John Muir's legacy - a perfect day at the park.
