Each of the winners has an inspiring story to tell of their efforts on behalf of the environment—efforts that echo John Muir’s efforts to preserve what’s best about our planet. We are pleased
that John Muir’s Birthplace in Dunbar, Scotland will be sending one or more representatives to accept their award.
You can download the registration form, then mail your completed form with your payment by November 10 to reserve your ticket(s).

John Muir Conservaton Award Nominations Now Being Accepted
John Muir advocated the protection of places of spectacular beauty and wildness. His actions have inspired generations to continue his work throughout the world. Each year since 1978, the John Muir Association has honored those who continue John Muir’s legacy of environmental preservation.
We invite nominations for individuals, nonprofit organizations, businesses and public agencies whose work for the environment has made a difference in their own community or in the world.
For the second year, we will present the John Muir Conservation Award in each of four categories:
1. Conservationist of the Year: For an individual(s) who has excelled in environmental protection, or made significant contributions to the advancement of conservation.
2. Environmental Education Conservation Award: For outstanding contribution by an individual(s) (professional or volunteer), business, organization or public agency to environmental education, whether in a classroom or otherwise.
3. Nonprofit or Public Agency Conservation Award: For outstanding achievement by a nonprofit organization or public agency that promotes environmental protection, or demonstrated significant achievement or leadership in the advancement of environmental protection or conservation.
4. Business Conservation Award: For outstanding achievement by a business (other than a nonprofit organization) that promotes environmental protection, or demonstrated significant achievement or leadership in the advancement of environmental protection or conservation.
The John Muir Conservation Awards will be presented at the John Muir Association’s Conservation Award Dinner on November 15, 2008 at the Winslow Center in Pleasant Hill, California.

The deadline for accepting nominations for the John Muir Conservation Award is September 28, 2008.
